When it comes to gun safety, some local police departments and gun safety groups feel that using gun locks are so important that they are giving them away to residents who need them. Most gun-lock distribution programs give away the cable lock styles. To find a free gun safety equipment program in your area, call your local police department. You can also find a free gun-lock effort locally through Project ChildSafe, which is a national effort that runs free gun-lock efforts throughout the country.
